Is this a Dead Pixel on my brand new Dell U2412M?

I just got my U2412M monitor, plugged in, turned it on for very first time, and the first thing I noticed is what I think a Deal Pixel. Not really sad, or angry, I didn't like this monitor ever, just got it cause didn't want to spend much.

Anyway, have taken a shot or two, placing a super cheap magnifying glass in front of the monitor, could anyone kindly confirm if it's really a dead pixel?

Without any magnifier,

And this is another issue I think, the colour Blue, when ran at full screen there's a vertical black line at left part of the screen! And the dead pixel is there exactly on top of it, on the upper side! I have placed the cursor right next to the deal pixel.

It does not appear to me to be a dead pixel. The dark band suggests a different problem. I would be for getting it replaced. Have you tried the old massage lightly therapy? TRry imaging it with a much lighter background.

Dell will replace it so contact them and swap it for another one. Dell has the best warranty around which is why I stick with them.

Okay, if it's not dead pixel then what is it? Yes, I tried the old massage therapy, same! What's that black line and why does it only occur when the background is blue?

I will call them tomorrow, hmm...

That's actually a stuck pixel and not a dead pixel, but yes it is a defect.

Given that the stuck pixel is exactly in the column of dead pixels, I'd say something probably went wrong with the blue subpixel for that column. You should get a replacement.

Called them today. Well had to jibber jabber for 15 minutes and at the end they said they will replace the monitor, but the good part is if the same model is not available they will send me a different model, and that's just awesome. If I don't like it then I'll have to complain again. Brilliant. And if I'm not wrong here in India there's no other 1200p monitor available from Dell other than U2412M, so I guess they might send me a 1080p monitor and expect me to accept it. Also it will not be a brand new one but a manufacturer refurbished one! Wow!

I loathe myself for being so cheap and not going for the PB248Q just to save some bucks :(

You might try running some programs to "unstick" the pixel.

JScreenFix, UDpix, etc... Google will lead you to more.

I usually check the posters history before responding to a thread, but I didn't this time. I originally though the OP was a Scottish guy.

Completely pointless and off topic. Do try to keep your ramblings to yourself.
