Is thier a big differance in quality of wired routers?

I was originally looking into wireless routers, because I was planning to get a second Tivo and would not be able to hard wire it. But that has changed so now all of the equipment I need connected is within range of wires. So it looks like I can get away with a wired router. So does it matter which one I choose? I was leaning towards Dlink or linksys for wireless. I will be networking 2 computers, a PS2 and my Tivo unit. But I do want to start learning more about networking, so something with a bit more power or features may be in order. Thanks

As far as Entry Level Wired Routers concern you can buy according to price and Look.

There are some differences concerning secondary features.

If you need special feature you have to log to the Brand Sites and read the Data Sheets.

What is Features? See here: Cable/DSL Routers - NAT & Ports.

I don't need any special features, just stuff to learn with. After looking at the prices it doesn't really appear that prices are that much differant between wired and wireless, so maybe I should just stick with the wireless.

Also how much of a differance is thier between the Linksys WRT54G and the WRT54GS. I know the GS is the speedbooster version. But from the limited reviews I have looked at the GS gets a lot better reviews then the G version. I want a quality router with a good feature set, which the GS seems to fit the bill, but I don't need the speedbooster technology.

Well I went ahead and got the LInksys WRT54GS from circuit city. Then stupid me forgot I needed a USB network adaptor for the Tivo. Which should I choose. It seems as though Linksys has 3 differant ones. I think only 2 of them are Tivo apporived.
