Is Thermalright IFX-14 too big for Praetorian case?

Tomorrow (Monday 11th Jan) I'll be ordering my new upgrade parts, buying a C2duo E8400,Asus P5kc mobo,4 GB Geil DDR2 RAM and I will OC to at least 3.6Ghz and possibly 4Ghz if temps allow.

I've read a load of reviews whilst trying to figure out the best CPU HS and the one that get's the best reviews is the Thermalright IFX-14 so I set my heart on buying one of these beasts.

However on further inspection I see the specs are Dimension : L146.2 x W124 x H161 mm and I get the sneaking feeling it may not fit my case!

Would anyone be able to confirm that this CPU HS will or will not fit into a Coolermaster Praetorian case, also if it will fit in ....will it stop the mobo tray from operating?

If it won't fit could someone give me some advice as to the next best option that will fit in my case.

I'm currently running an AMD x2 4400 with a zalman CNPS 7700cu which fits well but I'm not happy with the way the fins filled with dust and don't seem to be able to be cleaned (even with a can of air) unless I'd be willing to disassemble the lot and find some way to clean it,so I'd rather not go down the Zalman path again.

Assuming you're talking about a praetorian 730, I would not bet on it fitting but it may, just and I would bet a dollar to a dime the removable tray would no longer operate if it did fit. I couldn't tell if those were 92mm fans of the rear or 80's but, I'd be very willing to bet the Thermalright Ultima 90 would fit. Performance in par with the best on the market and a much more compact size.

Have you removed the air duct from the 730 yet ? Step # 1 for using any reasonable HSF with this case. With it removed, a Zalman 9500 will fit, also Ultima 90 with smaller fan. Can still use mobo tray too.

I just picked up a new silver 730 for $70 shipped and with that I'm trying a Zerotherm BTF90 soon and it should be no problem either.

My case is the rather older (possibly first version) of the Praetorian. No air duct that I'm aware of.I checked the box my case arrived in and it states the width as 190mm so I'm going to try the Ultima 90 with a 90mm fan and a 120mm and see which will fit best.I'd like to get a Scythe 90mm fan but can't find one where I'm ordering my parts from but they do have 120mm ones.
If the 120mm Scythe doesn't fit on the HS I'll just use it to replace one of the noisier case fans :)

Thank's for your input guys!
