Is there such thing as a good mATX mobo for C2D?

Short answer: No.

We need a sticky because this question seems to come up every week or two. Wait, make that every day or two.

Longer answer: Seems like only 945G and 965G chipsets are used on mATX boards - not a technical reason, but probably marketing related. The "best" ones for overclocking seem to only hit 300-350MHz FSB. Abit had announced a "more enthusiast" mATX board but has yet to produce it.

haha thanks Zap :p

Fry's combo is back, i'd want to sell their ECS board and buy a decent mATX board to fit in an mATX case. looks like i'll have to keep waiting...

This seems weird...Asus makes one and from what I can tell all 965g chips are capable of 400fsb, but the question comes down to whether ther are entusiast type of options in the bios. In most instances on all of my 965p chipsets they do 400fsb with no raise in chipset voltage or just .1v...I think they all can do 350 at stock....Vcore is another question depending on the chip used...

It's not that there aren't boards with higher FSB settings, just that nobody has gotten them to work at the higher settings, AFAIK.

yeah i saw some of Asus' 945G boards, like this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813131041

but i suppose its just a gamble, and you might lose some add-on stuff while at it
