Is there such a thing as a WiFi/Modem/NIC MiniPCI combo?

My laptop doesn't have integrated NIC and Modem (Latitude C600) and it uses a 3Com MiniPCI card for this functionality. However it's annying having to lug around a WiFi card. Is there a MiniPCI card (preferable by a good manufacturer) that has all three of these features? And preferably with 802.11g. I went to Dell and did a Google search but didn't find anything.

Well.... that mini PCI implemetation is often refered to as "integrated" within the industry.

You are out of luck though... you can't get all three on one Mini-pci.

That's a bummer.

I think that's what they use on the IBM ThinkPads. You might try e-mailing bill@thinkpads.com and tell him that Vince sent you since if I recall correctly, the IBM's did have either two or three of those features with the Atheros A/G 108Mbps wireless.

Thanks for the idea Vince! Letter away with key word inside. 🙂

For a laptop it still might be useful, depending on what class the hotel is. And I absolutely need 10/100 but the only combos I can find are 802.11g + V.90. 🙁

Didn't work, email bounced back.

Nope... when IBM started using the Atheros cards the thinkpads had the 10/100/(1000) soldered onto the planer and the modem and wireless was on the Mini-PCI.... If you had a Cisco card in there then the modem would be moved off as a daughter card into the "communication daughter card bay".... effectivaly displacing the Bluetooth daughter card if the machine only had one daughter card bay/slot.... THe A31's had two. Most onthers have one Mini-Pci and one daughter card slot right next to the mini-pci.

I see. 🙁 Now I have to decide if I want WiFi or NIC + V.90 integrated...

NIC+V.90 integrated internal, external USB WiFi. Simple enough.

That's what I have right now except WiFi is PCMCIA. I wanted something more discreet and less annoying however.
