Is there such a thing as a QUIET HSF for P4 yet?

The stock HSF on the latest P4 2ghz is actually very quiet, moderate oc ok, but all choices for HSF upgrades are SO NOISY.

Anyone found a truly quiet alternative, that results in significant cooler cpu temps, compared to stock?

I love the stock HSF. Very quiet but effective at keeping my OC'd 1.7 between 30-35.

If I were you I'd keep the stock HSF and focus on getting more airflow thru your case. I use push/pull Panaflo L's and an Enermax dual fan 350 PS.

Intel recommends huge heat sinks for the P4 and the size matches 70mm fans. The Intel retail heatsink is quite good with the 2600 rpm fan. It is very quiet and sufficient for most overclocking. I OC my 1.5G P5 to 1.73G using 1.8 volts core. The CPU is only 55 degrees C at full loads and 35 at idle.

Most retail heatsinks use 5000 rpm, 70mm fans which move the same amount of air as the infameous 6800rpm, 60mm fans used in many high output socket A HSF. Yet the 70mm fan is -8db quieter. See the spec from the YS Tech web site.

Some retail HSF use 3500rpm, 70mm fan which makes them close to the Intel unit in performance. The following reviews will give you some idea on the improvement. Anything keeping the P4 below 50 degrees C at full load is very good.
