Is there something wrong with this?

I went to Gigantour few years ago and this still left an impression today.

It's a metal concert. Everyone is having a good time with head banging, jumping, or at least calmly nodding head to the music.

This one guy next to me stuck out. Because..

1. He came alone (that's fine itself).

2. He stood absolutely DEAD STILL like a pillar throughout the whole concert. His eyes were fixated on the performers and you could tell he was enjoying it in his own way. But it was just strange.... like he wasn't socialized properly to express it physically. Not even subtle head nodding. He made zero movement and just gazed like he was in a meeting- throughout the WHOLE 90 mins. Also not a word spoken (I would've woo'ed or screamed at others at least once).

It just struck me as odd. Very peculiar. Is that a condition of sort? I can't picture going to a MUSIC concert and absolutely still.

I can't imagine being at a music concert and watching some guy standing still.

Well he was kind of cute. jk. He was right in front of me to the left, so it was easy to notice a rock of a person while everyone is jumping.

I do that at metal concerts. I'm just there for the music. Maybe it was me.

Being there for the music = be absolutely still? Isn't being there for music = physical expression of enjoyment?

Same, except I'm not a fan of metal. I'm there to listen, not socialize.

The primary reasons of head banging or even nodding & screaming is enjoying the music. Nothing to do with socializing.

If you're doing extraneous "stuff", it's harder to listen. The details matter. I don't know how much they matter at a metal show, but a good live band will be doing things differently than the album, and if you miss it, it's gone forever.

You can express your enjoyment via physical means, but it is not necessary. People do it out of tradition.

And this dude simply wanted to take it all in.

I wouldn't have noticed nor cared about this individual in a throng of head banging bodies.
