Is there something wrong with sending your son a flower at school?

It was his 11th B-Day today, so I had a red carnation in a vase delievered to him at school today, he happens to love flowers. Now he is secure in his manhood already, he doesnt care what anyone thinks about it, he found it to be sweet. Both of my brothers today were in agony with the thought of their nephew getting flowers. Is it just me or is that just crazy?

What grade is he in? If he doesn't mind being razzed by his guy friends then it's no big whoop at all.

He should know that you love him dearly and wanted to express it publically regardless of what people may think.

It is crazy for society's view that getting flowers as a boy is wrong.

I am glad that he is secure in his "manhood" and that he thought that it was sweet. A lot of other guys would have hated you after that ;)

Don't let his views on that be changed - he sounds like a great kid :)

I know I would have. A video game would be better for me.

I hope he didn't get beat up.
Would have happened to any boys in my school at that age.

BTW,

All your flowers are belong to us

Thats the thing, there was no torture! I just don't understand why men have such a hard time believing that. And to top it off he is a defensive player on the football team, which by the way has gone undefeated two years in a row!(Not that it has anything to do with this but C'mon, thats pretty good)

I wish my mommy cared for me that much. Wait...my mom bought me doughnuts and brought them to school when it was my birthday. I shared them with the class.

Since when is it "unhip" to love your mom? I just think it's wrong for guys to call their mom's mommy around the other guys. Kinda weird. I love my mom though...and PEOPLE KNOWS IT! MY MOM RULES!!!!

At least you got him something:) You're a cool mom...mommy:)

Awwww! I think that is sweet.

If he liked it, that is all that matters.

I have 3 kids... 13, 7, and 21 months old. I try to pay attention to their individual needs as much as possible. One might want cupcakes at school and another might want to skip school entirely that day (hey, that would be my choice!) and I try to honor their individual preferences as much as possible.

Sounds like you are doing a great job!

I can see where it would cause an 11 year old boy to get picked on,foolish as that may be. Kids are just cruel.

I personally wouldn't have. Too many verbally abusive kids out there that can make life very unpleasant for them.

Why a flower? Personally I would have waited till he got home to give him his flower. A simple card in his lunch might have been a better idea.

I don't think his friends did make fun of them, and if they did, I would be the first to tell him that the little bastards who made fun of him were not really his friends.

Ha! Friends. That is a much rarer thing than most of you think.... real ones, that is....

you meen you are supposed to get things on your birthday?

If the kid likes flowers thats cool, At that age I do not think the teasing would be to bad. Dont you dare do that to him at age 16, kids at that age are much more cruel.

As long as he wasn't embarassed by it then you did a good thing. Regardless, you showed him how much you love him and that's important.

send the flower with a hottie to personally deliver it. that would mean alot to a 11 year old.

11 is a kinda iffy age. If he liked it that was great, but in a couple years I wouldn't reccommend doing that.

Well, that's very sweet, and I'm glad he liked it. At 11 though, I would have hated it if my mom sent me flowers at school.

Very true, but it's hard to tell an 11 year old that. Either way, he's still gonna get razzed, and depending on the kid, he may be pissed off at you for sending the gift.
