i have a Sony 21inch Multiscan E540 monitor and a Geforce 3 video card. I always leave my computer on and monitor is set to go off in 30mins if comp. is untouch.

So my monitor will get blury once maybe twice a week. the only remedy i found is to Turn off the monitor and turn it back on in like 10 seconds.

Does anyone know what is wrong w/ my monitor or i need a new video card?

thanks,
Jack

I know nothing about how Sony CRT's are set up.

I just up graded to a lease pulled 22" Mitsubisi and was not at all happy with it until I degaussed it.
Never had to degausse my old 15" Compaq. From what I have read, normally this action takes place
during a cold boot of the monitor.

My Bishi has a degauss button in the on screen display (OSD). After fooling with all the settings I went
back to default, degaussed and that did the trick.

You might consider the latest drivers for the vid card, in my case(fx5200:() the latest drivers were not all
that good so I rolled back to the older ones. You could reinstall your VC drivers after you degauss.

I am no expert but this site is worth a read CRT FAQ

:)

EDIT: As stated above,"normally this action takes place during a cold boot of the monitor". Read about degauss
in the link provided.

You may want to try a different video driver also. Sony monitors degauss each time you turn them on and you are not ever turning it off and back on so its never degausing. Also the heat from leaving it on all the time is not good for it. Turn it off when you are finished for the day!
