I haven't bought a GameCube yet, but I can get the Indigo or the Black one for 10 dollars cheaper, is it really worth it to get the Platinum GameCube besides liking the color <.<?

XD ah well, if I wanted the Platinum looking one, I would probably spring for a Panasonic Q (Panasonic GameCube)... but I don't need another DVD Player =P XBox and PS2 and Apex and Sony DVD players.. 4 is quite enough =P... EVERYBODY needs a gamecube, especially with Animal Crossings and Zelda coming out!

Don't knock Nintendo, they made the videogames industry.
Hopefully Nintendo won't fail, they usually come up with some excelent games, such as Metroid Prime, Zelda, Mario, Goldeneye and Perfect Dark.
I mean, if I wasn't totally happy having a PC, I might consider a Gamecube, especially since most of the good PS2/XBox games come out on PC eventually.

I have to disagree, Atari made the video-game industry...

And broke it all in one go.
It was very hard for Nintendo to gain support from shops after the fall of Atari. The current industry is what Nintendo created, after the fall and collapse caused by the whole Atari thing.
There's a book called "Game Over" by David Sheff, it's about the rise of Nintendo, from its beginnings in 1889, to 1993 (when the book was written). It tells of what happened with the industry in the 80's when Atari flooded the market, and sales dropped through the floor, and how it wasn't until Nintendo that anyone had faith Video games were still viable as products in the shops. Even then Nintendo had to work very hard to get stores to stock NES', even though they turned out to be a big hit.

Would everybody in this thread that actually owns a next generation console please raise their hand?

*raises hand*

Would everybody in this thread that does not own one, please crawl back under the bridge from whence they came? Thanks.

After having both Platinum and Black, I prefer Black. Platinum really stood out in my entertainment center whereas the Black blends in nicely and you don't even know its there.
