That means Screwegg will raise their price to about $550-600.

thanks for that useless post.
Newegg is easily one of the best online retailers there is. It's called business, if you don't want to pay the price then STFU and wait.

The Newegg whining has gotten ridiculous around here.

I concur. They're a great company & offer some of the best service / value / policies of any of the online companies we buy from.

Careful, I got yelled at for critizing ScrewEgg. I guess you have to charge triple suggested retail to loss the "best Value" title.

Come on what did they really do? Charge more than double suggested retail, incorrectly describe the product and post a fake review declairing it to be a great value. That's not really all that bad.

Your completely right but what can you do? I'll never shop from them since they're sharks.

Like I said in the other thread, DO NOT WAIT for the best price you've been dreaming of. If something is within +50~70 of your original budget, just grab it and forget about the money you paid. I think that's a wise way to deal this situation than clicking on your browser every 30 mins looking for the price you've been thinking of. Also E6400 is a wonderful deal since I'm seeing more and more people not reaching 3.6GHz with retail E6600s. There is a great chance to hit 3.2GHz+ with an E6400 and you're not losing a lot. Stop wasting time and even more money since the prices are not gonna settle in near future.

I would go to outpost.com (Fry's online website). They have the bare oem e6300 for $209. It should overclock pretty well, and you can use any socket 775 heatsink. It comes with a 1 year warranty.

They put the price back down to $419 it was $499 so maybe it was a mistake or someone emailed them and complained

New Egg just recently raised the price for the 6600 from (was $419.00 at 2pm) to $459.00 (6pm)

Nothing against NewEgg at all but I'll wait 3-4mths for the prices to settle before purchasing from them ;) It'll be right on time for my yearly upgrade in Nov, maybe Dec.

That's it, screw this I'm getting a 6400. If I'm not satisfied with it for a few weeks I'll ebay it and get the 6600.

Where's the best place to get this 6400 that I pine for?

Edit: Whoops! Should've been in the 'Official Topic'.

Yeah, I didn't wait to save a little bit of money. I could get Conroe at cost, but need to wait like a month for it. But instead, I already have it in my hands (this past Friday) the E6400. So having my system is worth the extra $50 or so over waiting for it.

Uh...if you don't have the money just wait. That's the way of the enthusiast business....early adopters ALWAYS pay more. Remember 7800GT etc...etc... Prices stablize after 3 - 5 months usually

The loser in all this is Intel.

They wanted to start a price war with AMD, AMD countered and their products are available now for the new low prices. Intel's hyped paper launch has caused huge demand that retailers are all to happy to exploit with the limited supply.

Bitching about high retail prices is stupid. If you idiots want one so badly, go pay for one. If you don't, then you can wait a month or so for prices to drop down to retail. I'm tired of people complaining "wahhh e6x00 price is so high i want one now but i dont want to pay more money".
