I am in the process of buying a new 3.5" floppy drive and was wondering if there is much of a difference between the brands?

Is TEAC or HI-VAL good enough?

The TEAC comes WITHOUT the ctrl mount. What is the ctrl mount?

Thanks,Rnmcd

I do not this you will need the ctrl mount whatever it is.

I do not think it is worth worrying over the makes of FDD, how often are you planning to use it anyway.

I have a Teac FDD and it has lasted for about 4 years without and problems.

I have benchmarked about 5 floppy drives by different companies recently, not much performance difference was shown.

I wouldn't get worried about floppy performance.

if you want, you can get a superdisk, you know that 120MB deal. the drives handle 1.44 floppies faster...
