Is there much difference between DDR and SDram boards?

I'm also trying to decide if it is worth it to make the move to the DDR MB's. With an AMD 1.333, will I really notice the diffence with a DDR board vs. a VIA KT133 board with PC133 mem? Won't be using RAID either - and don't understand why someone at home would need it. We use it at work, of course.

not really much difference in performace with current apps and current cpu's but the ddr is faster and costs about the same

future apps and future cpu's are more memory bandwidth hungry, and they will perform alot better on ddr then on sdr(pc133)

even the palomino takes better advantage of ddr then the thunderbird does

In the reviews of the DDR solutions it seems that the only chipset currently giving ANY performance advantage over the VIA KT133A chipset is one that has the AMD 761 northbridge and that performance increase is only ~10%. So whether or not DDR is what you want to do is up to you, but I would suggest a mobo with AMD 761 northbridge if you do decide on DDR.

I've decided to go with the EPOX 8K7A and the PC2100 memory with a 1.333 266 AMD.

I think I can sell my ASUS CUSL2, Pent III 933, and 256meg of PC133 for a pretty good price.

I found all the above for $330 and I feel sure I can get at least $250 for my stuff. But I might have to end up getting a stiffer power supply - will have to see how it does on my 300Watts I have first.
