I haven't seen anything regarding new cards or new versions of cards we already have. I'm looking at upgrading in the next couple months, and am wondering if I should wait for something newer/better/cheaper or just get a 4870 1gb / geforce 260 216.

I'm using an 8800GTX at 1900x1200 and I'm in the same boat. I'm seeing some FPS dips into the mid-high 20s, which isn't nice to look at.

I'd rather not shell out for a 4870 1GB now and have something 10-20% faster come out in 2-3 months for roughly the same price, though.

thats how it works, though. performance doubles about every year, sometimes more, sometimes less. That works out to over 10% per month, so it hardly matters when you buy, it really matters where the price is for the card you want on its depreciation gradient.

I wouldn't really consider it worthwhile to go from an 8800GTX to a 4870. That's like going from a 4850 to a 4870. With your board, though, SLI is an option if you find a second one for cheap.

I'm using an 8800gt with an accelero s1 cooler and moderate overclocking. I run everything at 1920x1200 and I prefer high settings but medium I can handle. Aside from crysis I haven't really had problems yet, which is why I'm not ordering a card just this moment, but I'd like to have something to set my eyes on.
