Visalia. Don't know where it is? Watch 24 season 2 (or was it 3?).

Visalia's a nice city. I work in Hanford, about 20 miles east of Visalia.

Visalia is a nice city and I'm surprised to see that people know about. I have family in Corcoran which is not too far form these towns and they're all pretty quaint if you like the quiet agricultural scene.

Well if you like to hang out you have to stick back near the La area for sure, the SF area is not bad either. I am from the La area, it's not bad at all. If you are asian i would advise you to go to area like Monterey Park, Alhambra, Etc. It's close to La and it has all the asian needs located into a couple of cities.

I'm happy to see Visalia's getting a little name recognition. I was born and raised there, and although I don't live there anymore, I'm actually going up today as a stop on my way to Sacramento.

One of the good things about Visalia is that, not only is it relatively cheap in respect to the metropolitan areas, but it's geographically centered (roughly) between LA and SF. I live in Ventura and it's going to take me ~3 hours to get to Visalia, and another ~3 hours to get to Sacramento.

Just borrow some pot from your neighbor, it will ease the pain.

OMG, get out of California if you think the state is really like that!!

The sad thing is... it really IS like that in parts of Northern California. There are doctors who are literally looking for excuses to prescribe pot for people.

Is there any place that a canadian could hang out in california that wouldn't cost me an obscene amount of money (that is also relatively safe - I don't wanna live in downtown L.A. or wherever the "hood" is - although I absolutely want to see L.A.)
is there anyone else who wants to escape Canada for a year with you? two can live cheaper than one.

How much is reasonable for you ... i live in Sunnyvale (near San Jose) and I pay 850 a month. YOu could probably live in SF for around that much (if you get a roomate ... check craigslist). Or you could live in berkeley for around 6-700 a month. If i was still in college I'd want to live in either SF or berkeley (although I went to UC Berkeley so I am partial).

sacramento is alright.

I have family in visalia and hanford. Nice towns there too. A little country never hurt anyone. Just stay away from the tap water in Hanford...ew.
