Is there anywhere but CurrentServices\Run and Startup Menu where a program can start at boot?

The title says it - if a program starts automatically when XP boots, could that come from anywhere but CurrentServices\Run or Startup Menu? Not a Service, I mean an application in a window.

type in "msconfig" into the "run" box...go to the startup tab...there you can see programs that are running on startup too

Already did those, but no luck. Windows Media Player starting up automatically every time at boot. Those are the two places I know of to look.

Spyware? Virus? I've seen those suggested on websites. If they don't use Startup menu or CurrentVersion\Run, how would they do it?

And I can't find any option in WMP that sets it. If it did, again I would expect it to use the registry

I found a suggestion that it would be in Services, which can be set to start Automatic, but I'm not aware of any Windows Service associated with WMP. Maybe a virus created a Service that does it??? I work with Services all the time at my job, so I'm skeptical of this idea but what the heck
