Is there anyway to get around Gmails attachment policy?

I currently don't have a USB thumb drive nor do I have a floppy disc drive. For getting files to school I .rar them and send them to my gmail account. From there I just dl them to my computer at school. However I'm having a hard time zipping the files back up and trying to get them back into my gmail account. I can't send it because gmail scans the e-mail and notices I have a .dba file in there which is an executable. Anyway to get around this?

Does your school not give you webspace? Check into that, then just upload and download as you please.

I think they do, I attend a community college so I'm not sure if they do or not. They're rather strict on executable files. I don't blame them but for right now I'm dead broke and I can't get my hands on a floppy disc drive.

Erm, this may sound stupid, but...change/delete the file extension, then rename once you unzip it? I don't know if Google has algorithms that search for executable signatures, though....if so, that won't work.

try changing the extension...

outlook will block .exe's and stuff like that....i just usually change the extension to .neonerd, and send it that way, or when someone sends it to me, that's what I tell them to rename it to...filename.neonerd

yeah, most places just check the extension, not the file structure, so changing the extension usually works

I can confirm that simply changing the extension within a compressed files will allow them to get through Gmail.

yip that is what we do at work when the developers send us files that outlook blocks.
