Emulate? No need for that. MS-DOS 7.10 sits behind Windows 98...so just boot to a Command Prompt and there it is. Hit F8 as soon as POST completes to get the boot menu.

MS-DOS 7.10's functionality is almost the same as 6.22, so there should not be any real problems.

Well, i need to install dos 6.22 for other reasons. And windows 9x does not come with all the functionalities as previous dos versions. I like to refer to it as pseudo dos.. hehe..

What functions does DOS 7.1 lack that 6.22 has?

WinME has emulated DOS, but if you shutdown into a full DOS mode in Win98SE you can do anything that you could in 6.22. AFAIK the only exception is Defrag can only be run in windows...if that's your problem there are alternatives.....

My friend has two copies of Win98SE installed on his computer (he uses for it his PC and for his school computer and they do weird sh*t in the course he's in so don't ask...hehehe), since the boot loader for DOS and Win98 are exactly the same you could most likely do DOS 6.22 / DOS 7.10 instead of two copies of DOS 7.10...if it's really important to you I can ask him how he did that....but he said it was very difficult...

Well, for reasons I don't really want to make public, I just need to be able to run DOS 6.22... under windows.

His porn only runs under dos 6.22:) Actually there are programs such as games that will only run under older versions of dos because of where in memory dos stored certain commands. Anyway, I would suggest just getting a dos 6.22 boot disk and that should solve all your problems. If you really have to get it running under windows, good luck. You can try and do a google search for emulators but that's going to be tough to find.

Well if you don't want to make your reasons public that's fine, it's your choice...but if you gave us a better description of what you want to do it would be easier to help you.

Not sure what you mean, "Run it under windows". Windows 98 is an overglorified DOS Shell...do you want Win98 to run as a Shell for DOS 6.22 instead of DOS 7.10? Do you want a DOS window in your Win98 that is DOS 6.22 instead of DOS 7.10, and do you want it to behave as DOS 6.22 used to (with 640k memory limits and crap like that)?

You might want to try posting this in the Operating System forums. It really has nothing to do with hardware, it won't get buried as fast, and people that visit that forum often tend to know more about this sort of thing.
