Is there anything wrong with using older versions of antivirus software?

I just upgraded my sister's PC and installed NAV 2002 on her computer, since that's what was lying around. The subscriptions service was able to download all the updates successfully it seems, so I'm wondering if there's any issues I should worry about, that newer versions would provide?

Not as long as you have a way of updating the to the latest DAT files. That usually means a renewed subscription. Once the originator ceases to support the old AV program, then it is time to upgrade.

Antivirus software is notorious for causing stack problems. If at all possible get the latest version to avoid the occasional bsod.
