Is there anything worth seeing in the Phoenix area?

We are surprising my 6 year old with Wrestlemania tickets(he is wrestling crazy and has said he wants to go) for Christmas. We will be flying out in March and probably staying at least one to two nights. I do not care for wrestling so I will let my wife take my boys to the event while I check out the town. What would you recommend? I like photography so good photo opportunities are top priority.

all kinds of places for photo ops. especially at dusk. id say take a trek to hole in the rock on papago mountain, its by the zoo. short climb up a path (you can even take a route with stairs) and the view is killer. south mountain at dobbins is an awesome view of the valley and sunset as well.

Phoenix itself, like most southwestern cities, has been beaten pretty hard with the ugly stick. However, there are areas outside of town that are pretty nice. In March you might catch some spectacular wildflowers if the winter rains arrive on time. Places to see:

Take I-10 west of Phoenix to exit 103 and head north toward Wickenburg (you can make a loop). If the wildflowers are up, you'll drive through an ocean of gold poppies. Otherwise, the hike to Vulture Peak is very scenic even without the flowers.

Take Hy 60 east to Mesa and Bush Hwy north through the Salt River Canyon rec area. Loop around past Roosevelt Lake and Miami. Tonto Nat Monument, Superstition Mts are nice.

A day trip to Prescott is a good drive and you can stand on the lawn where Billy Jack kicked the deputy in the face.

Goldfield Ghost Town is interesting and has some photo ops of the Superstition Mountains in the background. It's out east of Mesa.

I would climb camelback mountain. Its a great view of the Phoenix are and you should be able to get some great pictures.

Heres a picture from Camelback I took from my iPhone:

Nah it is a great place to live but not much to see unless you want to go hike the superstition mountains or something. Peralta trail is cool when you get to the top.
