is there anything I need to do if I'm upgrading from Win98 to WIN2K?

i know this has been said many times... but it is always best if you format the harddrive then install the OS clean... but if that is what you want to do go for it... there shouldn't be anything special to do...

I agree with socplyr. I have performed this task many a time for my clients. It seems that things just go much smoother in the long run if you re-partition & format. I have noticed that in many cases that just installing over the top appears to work o.k. short term, but more often than not problems start to creep in as time goes on.

Should I UN-Overclock if I'm going to reformat and install everything fresh?

if your computer is stable you shouldn't have a problem... just do that if you have problems...

I just installed Win2KPro on this system that I have. Previously, I was using Win98. I feel that the bootup time is slower than Win2K. I'm running an Athlon tbird 900 with 384MB of ram on a 30GB 5400RPM HD. I don't know what's the problem. Is that normal, to boot up slow? Any ideas would be appreciated.

I'm far from a software expert, but I believe that WIN2000 IS NOT a Win9X upgrade; it is, i believe, a WIN NT upgrade.

In leau of someone with some better knowledge than I have saying I'm full of phooey, I'd suggest you take these other folks' advice and reformat.

when you upgrade it, make sure you have all the drivers for all the hardware that you have.

win2k is based on NT but you can still upgrade win9x machines to win2k... but like it was mentioned you would need new drivers etc...
