Is there anything I can do to get data from this hdd???

last night, i was sitting in my computer room when i heard one of my machines reboot, i took a look at it and it had rebooted and it was hanging at the post screen with the hdd l.e.d. lit like it was moving a huge file. then post says it can not find a hdd. is the hdd toast? i tried the hdd in another machine and the other machines don't find it either... i have changed all the cables but that did not fix anything. am i out of luck?
 
I've had luck by just letting it sit for a few days (!). Also, try it as the only drive on the ide channel. you've already tried switching cables and by switching to a different computer you've tried different power cables...doesn't sound too good

when you tried it in the other computer did you have it as the boot drive?
