Frank is angry because we are dissing the car he was conceived in.

"Sorry, darling, this dang old stiff clutch is giving me a leg cramp. We're going to have to pull over in this secluded spot while I rest my leg. Can you massage the muscle for me???"

Nine months later... Baby Frank: "Waaaaaaaaaa!"

All clutches are indeed not created equal. Spend a rush hour with this one and you'd know pain.

Yeah, I was surprised at how light the clutch felt in my Honda HR-V compared to my old Nissan Versa. Now that I've gotten used to the HR-V's clutch, I would probably find the Versa's clutch tiring.

Sounds like an assist spring or a pressure plate issue. I've heard of problems with Subarus where people put in fancy high-performance clutches and the reinforced specs end up requiring a lot more effort to engage the clutch. Is this an OEM clutch?

It's a 15 year old thread.
I bet his leg/hip is really sore now! Google works even better today than it did back then....for kicks I did a search because I was thinking about the spring and found:

Key words on that page are "Clutch Fluid Air Bleeding"....if there's a hydraulic line involved, he could have been dealing with air in the lines. I don't know anything about Subaru, so tough to say if that was the culprit...but certainly thought the banter was harsh. I've driven a few cars with less-than-smooth clutches, so I could understand city driving in one could suck.
