Is there any way to save Shockwave Flash Animations?

I see some that I really like and want to save to my hard drive (I'm on dialup so there's lots of annoying "hiccups" and pauses". However, right clicking it provides no save option, and going file>save allows no save option, unless there's another graphic on that page besides the animation, in which case it saves that graphic.

here's how i do it:

go to ur browser's temp folder (i.e. c:\windows\temporary internet files), and sort by file types. Those flash files are usually the .swf ones, their size are also bigger than the other files. Then just copy it to where u want it saved and u can also change the name to it too.:)

you have to use the "find" function. start-find-files or folders.

point it to you temporary internet files folder, and do a search =).

and all you have to do is drag it to IE for it to run. or you can have it open with IE.

if you still can't find it, empty your cache, and go that page with the animation again. try increasing your cache size also.

That's how I do it.

Strange, I usually save any files from the temp directory. However, some time ago I tried saving a Macromedia Flash animation and I did but could not play it for some weird reason. I would click on it and it would say that no appropriate reader/player could be found even though I have the latest Flash installed on my comp.

Any ideas?

Why is it that I can't find the swf files in my temp folder? I can find some swf files if I search for them, but never the animations that I'm looking for?

look at the source code and find the exact location of the file on the server. the file extension is swf.
Make a new html document with a link to that specific file. then open the html file in your browser. Right click and and hit 'save target as'.
works for me.

samarath, tried it, didn't work. It when I told it to save it, it pretty much saved the link. lol. In other words, if I click on what it saved, IE will open up, my modem will connect online and it will start loading the flash.

sometimes flash animations redirect to another animation and are capable of opening another one and cloaking(sp) the new one opened so it might not work in some cases.
It worked for those kung fu flash animations posted here earlier(some time ago). But again, if you are a good flash developer, you can do certain things to make it not work.

for example, try this one http://www.abcdex.com/services/flashintro.html. if you look at the source code, you'll find

images/intro.swf

then the address just becomes

http://www.abcdex.com/services/images/intro.swf

and you can right click and save it.

if you dont have flash installed, drag it into IE and it will work
