Cause some person on dc said that they wanted to try and hack my comp... I know the person, but is there any way to get through it or do you need to know a specific port to do it?

They can do a simple port scan to determine what ports are open on your machine and then proceed from there.

LOG OFF NOW!
Or is your drive gone already?
See you after you reinstall.

Yeah even if they make it through the router, I doubt they will make it through the firewall unless they are leet.

If they make it TO your router they have already made it THROUGH your firewall (if any)!

zonealarm, although if you're behind a nat based router don't bother unless you think you're going to get a trojan or something that is going to try to phone home

Just the WinXP one! :Q Make sure you don't make any bets Atlantean. Personally, fro everything I've read you need to have at least another s/w firewall in place in addition to what ships w/ WinXP.

If it were me, I would get a hardware firewall. Even if it is a Linksys/Netgear/etc. They at least try to block traffic before it gets to the acutal computer.

It's all about what ports are blocked and the like, remember, Win 9x had File Sharing enabled by default! :|

You should buy a router for maximum protection (sounds like a condom commercial, 'eh?)

You can buy the D-Link DI-604 for $14.99 with free shipping, go to FW Hot Deals forum and search for 604

What three, and how do you get a 512 bit encryption?

It's almost impossible to hack through a router.

It can be done but not by the average script kiddie.

There is no reason to worry unless you are broadcasting your IP and challenging people to hack you. They will!

"a 512 bit encryption" what? any specific protocols or algorithms? Does it tunnel something?
