I have an mx300 and was wondering how to digitally extract the sound out of an mpg movie file into any standard audio format (wav, or mp3...)? Right now the only method of extracting the sound would be to use a microphone to record the sound, but that obivously will lead to a loss in sound quality.

If you run your sound out (Line Out) to an external sound system/amp, then you can connect that to a tape deck. That will record the sound in analog format. You can then convert that to a WAVE file, but we're talking H-U-G-E file size depending on how many minutes of sound you want to capture.
