Is there any way in windows 8 to specify a drives number?

For instance I have 3 drives that are encrypted with Truecrypt. When ever I try to auto mount them the one I want for my D drive is always last making it an F drive.
I have tried swapping the cables around but nothing seems to help.
Is there any way to tell windows that I want this to be the first drive loaded?
Thanks

Are you talking external drives or internal?

You also know TrueCrypt is out of date and considered insecure, correct?

Have you ever told Windows to allocate D drive to another volume? If so, Windows keeps a record of that. If this is the case, then I think you need to remount the original 'D drive' volume, go into Disk Management and allocate another drive letter to it.

Normally, if drive letters are allocated by Windows automatically, then there's no assurance that a given storage volume will always get the same drive letter (first come, first served, starting from the lowest available drive letter to the start of the alphabet after say 'C' drive).

Never mind. I finally found the right combination of cables to swap. And changing drive letters would not have accomplished what I needed done.
