is there any virus that will send a blank, HTML email in Outlook Express?

by blank, i really mean blank... nothing but two empty (except one has html formatting... no, nothing weird in html) attachments as part of the multipart email.

i think it might be a virus, but i can't figure out why anybody would bother writing a virus that sends blank emails.

few months ago... i got this email as well... to my yahoo account.

i posted this up and no one seemed to know exactly what it was.

now i have a question.

according to the description, it says

- Creates one of the following registry key values:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\
SystemCheck=C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\SysCheck.exe

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\
SystemTray=C:\WINDOWS\SysTray.exe
(note these files are never created by this trojan and therefore have no functionality)

on top it says that the virus creates one of the following.
and on the bottom, it says that the files are never created?

Do you have a ton of .eml files all over the place? If so, it could be the Nimda virus. Took me a while before I figured that out. I would see the envelope icon with the .eml extension in almost every folder.
