Is there any software as intuitive as iTunes for the PC?

beer

I'm just wondering this after playing with my best friend's powerbook.

Is there really any MP3 software that is as good as iTunes that is available for the PC?

MusicMatch Jukebox does fine for me on the laptop but I want one of these to integrate with the home theater system. 🙂

Friend of mine has one and it's pretty slick.

Yes, I'd like to know as well. I've heard people rave about it but nobody has told me why as of yet.

Superior usability, incredible playlist management, low CPU overhead, just some of the things.

Yeah, I would also like to know.

I have never owned a Mac but what makes this software so intuitive?

it has built-in CD burning, ripping, and streaming for lsitening to music on other computers. It's very well organized, you can search your library without pressing "enter" (Seems small but it's very nice) it automatically organizes your music for you by band, album, track number and title. It doesn't try and sell you all kinds of crap. (it does have the built-in music store now, but it's a little tiny button on the left, and doesn't try and take over the whole window every time you start the thing) , it's slow and blaoted with unrelated stuff like video players....

I do all that organizing in wondows i DONT want a prog to do it for me. If i did id use MMJB. I can make playlists just fine with Winamp. Saves them all nicely can add folders........ Nero Burns anything I want and EAC rips it

But thats the problem.
You have to use 3 different programs to accomplish the same task that iTunes does.

MMJB can burn, too. And, with MP3 files, what's the big deal about using Nero? takes like 10 secs to start burning once selecting data CD from the wizard and selecting the folder with the files. And EAC is a great tool for ripping.

And I, too, keep files organized on my harddrives so it's easy to find something.

TheEvil1 would rather boot into 16 different operating systems to use 37 different command line apps to burn a music CD than touch an Apple product. He only stopped by to say "I can do the same thing without them cause they suck".

hey!!! i left out the macs suck comment that time 🙂

so what if I tunes can burn aduio CDs. so can MMJB. i dont use it cause its crap. can I tunes burn me a Divx or a VCD????? think not. you gotta use imovie for that. Nero does it all. and EAC rips better then any other progie VBR 224. I rip to the desktop then I move them to a folder of teh album the move them to another HD in the band folder. I know exactly where it goes. take me all of 10 secs of extra time. Itunes dooing what it does is BLOAT imo.

Since you'd never even consider trying the application out, it really doesn't matter what you think of it, you can move along now, we know you don't like it. He asked what was good about iTunes, not how to rip MP3's with EAC or burn VCDs.

Tyler - thank you for the info. I am assuiming it becomes your main music player like Winamp is for Windows users?

Yep, that's the idea. I can give you screenshots if you're interested.

I agree, makes everything easier to me to do it seperatly cause i know exactly where everything goes... and to answer the topic i guess it depends on what u are used to because using multiple proggies is more intuitve to me than those all in one programs

EDIT: Not trying to cause tyler to flame some more people.. just give my two cents

iTunes is awesome. I'm really glad that they're porting it to the PC. Between iTunes, the iPod, and the Apple Music Store, Apple is basically the king of digital music.

ill try it when it ports to Windows.

this is what it will need for me to switch.

EAC secure mode rip.
ability to encode in any format, mainly MPC and Lame, with command switches.
burn audio and mp3 cds from the playlist or m3u or similar.

But i don't think i can ditch Foobar to play my mp3s and mpc.

No idea what that is, so I can't comment.

I already have a plugin script for mine that encodes with LAME using whatever command line switches you want.

It already burns playlists.
