Is there any risk associated w/a money order?

I received a money order from someone's bank for an ebay purchase. is there any need to let it clear my bank before shipping?

no problem at all. meanwhile send me your social secutiry card and your mother's maiden name as well as your amex card number, exp date, and the 4-digit security code. thanks.

It's as good as cash as long as it's not a forged MO, which is a bad thing to write. If it's a legit MO it's as good as cash.

No problem. I do that all the time for people. I can't believe how many people add an extra few zeros by mistake, but never any problems! I find nigerians typically do it the most.

MO > Check because it's cash right away

Unless it's from Nigeria, but it seems you guys have killed that one already 😀

I wish I got special emails from other countries, but then it might run up my internet long distance bill.

MO > Check because it's cash right away

Only if it's cashed from a processing center right away, like a USPS MO at a post office. If you deposit to a bank, they have no way to verify it's valid until it is processed many days later.

MO's are commonly stolen, through inside jobs, so be very careful.

Money Order from someone's bank

DING DING DING DING DING!

Who's bank? Locate the Routing number, find a phone number, and call the bank, and verify that the MO is good. A Bank MO is NOT equivalent to cash, and could be forged or stolen.
