Is there any reason why Mozilla is like 10x faster than IE?

Say what? Mozilla is dog slow on my computer in Linux compared to IE in Windows.

I don't know about 10X but I did switch to Firebird last week and it is MUCH faster then IE. I guess part of the reason is that it's not as bloated as IE.

The theme / extension (mouse gestures, etc.) support is nice.

And of course, tabbed browsing.

I have used opera, mozilla, itreesurf & myie2 (in addition to the original ie6 ;) )

I like them in the order

myie2 > opera > itreesurf > mozilla > ie6

I've tweaked IE, w/ the Registry HTTP Connections option... it loads PDQ. I've tried firebird (a few mo's ago) and didn't notice a significant difference, certainly not 10x faster than IE. I don't doubt it's faster though... probably been some optimizations.

Most of the othe features from mozilla I get from crazy browser so at this point I'm still not switching. But I may if something cool comes along, or IE gets buggy.

Only thing is, I wish Firebird had an option so I could make links opening in a new Tab the default. But that's a small thing. Otherwise it's a pretty cool browser.
