i went in to the docs last wednesday for something else and ended up getting the h1n1 vaccine since i was already there.
i've been getting flu shots yearly forever and haven't had the flu as long as i can remember.
I have never had a flu shot and I can't recall ever having the flu. I rarely get sick.
This reason right here. I have known several people that have gotten a flu shot then got the flu a few days later.
I have never gotten the flu shot and have yet to get the flu.

i'm not gonna get H1N1, so i'm not gonna get the shot. but if my job called for it or i got sick a lot, i'd prolly get it.

FYI: vaccines do nothing for you if you've already contracted the virus. Your logic is that of a 3rd-grader....and sadly consistent with the majority of the country, it seems.

Yep. This is why I never wear a seatbelt. I've never been in an accident, so it's pretty stupid to waste time putting one on, plus, sometimes they cause more damage than if you were not wearing one.
I think that's a pretty poor analogy. The human body has a built-in seatbelt called the immune system. Mine is working pretty well, so why would I want a 3rd party belt going in as well?
I think you fail at analogy. Your body has a built in restraint system as well. It is perfectly designed to handle impact. A seatbelt only strengthens your natural ability to withstand an impact. Just like a flu shot merely strengthens your already well equipped immune system. It's a perfect analogy.

There is precisely 0% chance that the vaccine will give you the flu. No one has EVER gotten the flu from the vaccine. It is a myth originating in shoddy reporting and understanding simple science.
that was buck

Like I said above, many people confuse the flu with flu symptoms. The shot will give certain people flu SYMPTOMS. Those people will THINK they have the flu because they'll have a fever and a slew of other symptoms. That is the body's response to the flu shot, its attempt to get rid of the intrusion. But that has nothing to do with actually HAVING the flu.Originally posted by: OutHouse
Bullshit. i dont care what the docs say, every singe time i got the damn flu shot while active duty military i got the damn flu within 2-3. i have not had the flu shot in 14 years and have never been sick with it.

Both feel the same to you. But in one case (shot giving symptoms), you will recover and you won't spread the disease. In the other case (actually having the flu), you may die and you'll likely spread the disease).

True dat. People love to pass off the common cold, strep throat, random stomach virus or something like that.
Flu for most is incredible head pain and complete inability to function.
If you got over it in 4 days or less than there is a 90% chance you don't have the flu.
Back in 1st grade I had the flu. I was out for 7 days. The day I came back I threw up. Out for another 5 days before I went back to school again.
I also had the flu back in college and was in intense pain for 7 days. IE couldn't do anything but sleep.
About 3 years later I started getting the vaccine. Haven't had the flu since however I have gotten sick (strep throat) which is almost as shitty and lasts a bit longer but nowhere near as intense pain as the flu.

I really haven't researched it too much, but I've been starting to look around to see if there's any reason I shouldn't just get it.
