Is there any point to the majority of these threads?

Hell, its not that bad here - its like any other forum in that you have a handful of quite insightful people, a handful of trolls and then the majority in between

The problem is, as the forum for Issues Not Discussed in Polite Company, every thread (whether it starts off reasonably or as a 'Drudge:{name} eats babies' thread) quickly becomes a) polarised, and then b) personal. Sometime I don't see why the moderators don't institute an official point scoring system and be done with it
