Is there any other V8 that sounds anywhere near as good as a Mustang GT's?

I like the RX-8 engine sound... not so obnoxious as a V8 but not whiny like a 4-banger either.

The SVT Cobra's engine was a friggen monster compared to the GT... I got stuck in traffic behind one and his idle was clearly audible in my car with the windows up.

Oh and for those of you that think *any* car engine has wallop, you've never heard a large displacement diesel running before!

Rare 'cross the line 25,000 hp electric motors are interesting to start too!

Ummm, I think you mean 8 cylinder. Unless its from a long time ago and ford used to make v10 Diesel, and by that I mean international, otherwise the v10 they have is gas not diesel.

But yea, my dad and older brother both have the 7.x (i think its 7.3) and its a heck of a motor. But the new 6.x V8 is better, smaller and has more power and a lot more torque. Don't like the sound of Diesel's though. Only thing worse is the smell

Are you talking about a box-6? Because this thread is about V8s...

Yea and not a single boxer/flat or inline 6 is going to sound any where near as good as a V8 any way. They have their own sound though. V8's are just the ultimate, no motor configuration sounds better. There are a few V12's that can be arguably better sounding, but not IMO.

#1 > Any ferrari V8, usually the smaller they get the better they sound. I like the 3.5 myself
#2 > Current Gen Bowtie motors, namely the LT1 and LS1 for me
#3 > Old school Mopar, specifically Hemi

#595 > Ford's 4.6 puke motor

That about covers it

I (personally) love the sound of Rotary Engines. The twin-turbo B20 engine is HAWT.

The only Mustang I've heard that sounded decent (modded of course) was the 5.0L

LT1/LS1 for life.

I drive a 93 LT1 Firebird Formula with Borla exhaust, Keith Black forgings, 150shot N20 (wet), heads ported/polished, stock compression, bf goodrich street slicks, no cat, custom chip.. some other stuff, i havent had to work on it for years..

reliable.
and very very fast. prob pushing 450HP with all the work.
daily driver too ;) pulls better than stock mileage (about 15city/22hwy)

I've never heard a better sounding 'stang, only the 5.0s sound good to my spoiled ears.

Next ride is going to be a '05 Z06 Vette, am in negotiation trying to get my wife to let me order one of these here

edit- Also have a vigilante 2800 stall converter.. just remembered that

I have a friend with a hot ferrari.. the exotics dont sound that great. If you like riceburners, you'll like lamborghinis/ferraris for sound.

For me, a lopey cam in a SBC (small block chevy ie. lt1/ls1/ls6 ect) sounds about the best.
I prefer a nice low end thump thump, like its about to die than a 15K rpm 2liter goign nuts and putting out 210HP. :p
