Hi,

I need to upgrade (build from the ground up, case, power supply, Mobo, etc.) my computer pretty soon (around september) and wonder if there is any Mobo out there that would support Athlon Tbird, DDR SDRAM yet and ATA/100 yet. If it were you what is your upgrading path, buy a Tbird now and wait for the DDR support or wait for both of them? Any comments is greatly appreciated.

DDR motherboards won't be out until this fall, I believe, when AMD releases their 760 chipset.

Thanks for your feedback. Do you think it is worth to wait for Tbird + DDR support until then or an Athlon 800~850 + KX133 mobo would be more adequate (most bang for the buck) for now? My main applications is 3D modeling (Pro/E, Solidedge, Solidworks, Inventor etc, internet, and graphics (Corel Draw9, Adobe photoshop, etc)

I would suggest the KA7-100 and a 850 Athlon. The 850 has the betetr NEC cache that the 700 has. I am running my 850 at 1ghz with no GFD. Even when the 760 comes out, it will probably have some growing pains. When it has been out for awhile and it is working well, then you could upgrade. I am waiting for the 760 chipset and the "Mustang"...
