Is there any difference betwen the X1900GT and X1950PRO?

I know there are differences between the two, but do they perform pretty much the same? Looking at each card's respective specs, they seem just about even.

Here are some benchmarks which give a slight edge to the X1950Pro, probably thanks to the faster clocked memory on it in comparison to the GT.

Well I just remembered to look up Anandtech's article on the PRO, and it seems to perform very similar to the GT. The cheapest PRO I can find is $190 while the cheapest GT I can find is $150.

From the benchmarks that I've seen, there's <10% difference between the 2, with the Pro being the faster card. If you can live with $40 better than a single digit performance difference, then go for the GT.

For the most part, $150 is an excellent price for the performance you get. However, you may also want to consider what games you will be playing:

Notice at higher resolutions with AA X1950 Pro performs much better. Granted, this particular card has a mild factory OC. Also keep in mind X1900GT runs MUCH hotter than a X1950 Pro, we are talking 10C idle, 20C load, which may or may not matter to you.

If you are tight on money though, I'd spring for the X1900GT. If you do have a bit more money, X1950 Pro is a good option.

If you compare the X1950 PRO against the X1900GT based on the R580 core and that runs at 575MHz, will performs quite similarly, but the power consumption and heat dissipation on the R580 based X1900GT is far more greater. But if you compare the X1950PRO against the X1900GT that is based on the same chip (RV570), the X1950 PRO will be much faster in high resolutions due to it's faster core clock and slighly higher memory speeds.

Don't forget that now with the X1900 GT you get a 'card lottery' for clocks. Some have the high core clock and slower memory, and then other have a slow core clock and higher memory clock -- with the latter cards being the newer batch. Personally, I'd put up with the higher temps to get a higher core clock guaranteed out of the box. Either way however, the X1950 Pro has a slight edge and don't forget the quieter cooler + internal CrossFire bridge.
