Is there another way around error 1305 Half Life 2 install?

The only information I got through doing a search was that you should download the game via Steam and then enter the product key afterwards. Problem is I run a wireless connection and this could take forever. Is there any other way around this? I assure you the disks do not need to be replaced. They look clean as a whistle.
 
Is this the "can't find file hl2.ico1 file in hl24.cab" install error? I got that particular error and to get around I just clicked, next, next next ..... instead of customizing the install to remove Counter-Strike Source. At first I thought it was my bad CD-ROM drive but after testing it again I realized it was valve/viviendas poor QA that let the bug through.
