I was going to post a question on fool.com and they wanted me to pay 25.00 a year to do that. personally i dont think its worthwhile.

so i was wondering what investment boards do you use and are they free.

thanks

well why not. my mother in law wants to withdraw money from her variable annuity. she is getting a huge tax it. what can she do to minimize taxes. and how does these tax penalties work. is her withdrawal treated just like income. and if it is can she make a lot of deduction to reduce her tax liability more significantly.

If she can, maybe she should withdraw only half what she needs now, the other have January 1st. That way she splits the tax burden over two years.

Thanks :)

BTW, anyone remember the investing forum started by an ATOT member several months back? That might be a good place to ask.

yep she is going to do that already. but she will still pay 32 percent in taxes. but in short i am not sure how this annuity withdrawal actual works? i mean so whatever she takes out does that mean that is her income. so lets say. she has made 0 money. and takes out 60 k. then is she paying tax at the same level a person would pay at 60k. and if she is. is she entitled to the same type of deductions to reduce her liability. lets say property tax deduction, claiming kids as Dependants?

finance.yahoo.com

They have a board for every single stock out there. I think they also have other related forums.

gurufocus.com is also a good one, but it seems people don't go there as much anymore. Gurufocus.com is good because the people that are there are true value investors.

I should add .... there is ONE BIG BENEFIT when it comes to forums that require you pay. They typically have smart people there.

Something the yahoo forums gnerally lack. Yahoo is loaded with speculative idiots for the most part.

I use Yahoo Finance as well. The boards, depending on the stock, can be useless and full of spam, trolls, etc, but I have found a lot of good information on others.
