Is there an electrical outlet on an airplane for a laptop?

Looks like I'll be flying... it's like a 15 hour flight. I have a book, but would like my laptop also.

Battery last about 3 hours if I'm using it, so is there an electrical outlet? Anything?

Also what do I need to use my laptop in another country (Korea). I know the outlets are different, and I know they have some basic adapter, but do I need an inverter instead where it actually controls the volts/wattage? Where to get cheap B&M?

Oh yeah, there woudln't be free WiFI on the plane would there?

You call call the airline and request a seat near an outlet, but more than likely they are typically only available in first class.

I think Korean Air or Asiana might have it but usually only in the First Class seats. And if you are Korean, that means you are cheap and will usually go via Coach. heheh

Heh, I remember reading an article how some airlines were restricting laptop use on airplanes due to laptop users camping out in the bathroom to use the outlet in there that is meant for electric razors, etc.

Spell checker wouldn't have solved the whole problem. Two of the four words are spelled correctly. They're just the WRONG words!

I've been on planes that had outlets in coach, but you need the special power connector. Also have been on planes that didn't have outlets. I bought a Targus charger that had adapters for car cigarette lighters and airplanes. If you need to know for sure, call the airline.

Most airlines have power outlets for labtops, but they tend to be business class and first class only. You'll need a special plug to use them as they are basically a 12-volt outlet like in a car.

Korea uses a different plug style than the USA, but it is easy to find an adaptor. Check in the airport or at your local Radio Shack. If you have any sort of modern laptop, the power supply will automatically convert the the right amps and voltage.

I travel to Korea all the time. I suggest sleeping as much as possible on the flight over. The best flights for me leave about 1 AM and arrive at 5-6 AM 2 days later. It makes it easier to sleep and easier to adjust the first day (just stay up all day and go to bed no earleir than 9 PM).

American Airlines has plenty of power ports (cigarette lighter style)...

United, Delta and most of the rest (Only checked United, Delta and American (SouthWest had no info)) only have power ports in Business/First Class...

the adapters are a bit expensive, they were about $100 when they first came out, that was a while ago, perhaps they are cheaper now. i think they might rent them for some $ , maybe

If the plane has cigarette lighter type outlets, a small inverter may be cheaper and more useful than a straight converter.
Many of the larger drugstore chains sell power converters for overseas
(Walgreens, Eckerd, Rite-Aid, CVS, etc.)

American Airlines has 12v cigarette lighter style outlets under all the seats in their Boeing models. Unfortunately, since they bought TWA, you mostly get to fly the old TWA planes which are MD 80's. They suck and they're reallly cramped.

but the MD 80's do short domestic routes, a flight to Korea will be on a DC-10/MD-11 or B-747 or B-777 or Airbus 340 , i didn't see where he said which airline he is on
