is there an aol im client that can display away messages selectively?

i thought deadaim did it, but i guess not. is there a program that you can select people on your buddy list you want to appear away to, without appearing away to everyone? and yes, before you ask, this is because i want to avoid talking to some people.

Trillian .74d doesn't. At least I don't know how to make it do it. Maybe Trillian Pro (1.0) has that ability. What I do is I just leave an away msg up all the time, and only respond if it's someone I want to talk to. It only auto sends the away msg once, and even if I reply to that person, the away msg stays up.

You could use gaim and write a perl script.

i use 'instant idler 1.1' with deadaim 3.whatever and the lateast aim beta to look idle at the click of a button, this way people don't bug me or when i sit down only for a minute get a few IMs

i like that, but i want to appear online to some and away to others. this appears to make me look idle even to people i'm talking to, which could look suspicious
