To PaperPort for my Visioneer 8700 USB scanner?

I'm running Windows XP SP1. I don't like PaperPort at all :(

I'm not familiar with that program. Is it just for document scanning? Because I know the newer versions of Office allow you to scan directly in w/ OCR.

I think it was on Office 2K and XP. (Dont' quote me, but if you have either one of those, check it out.)


EDIT: Ok, I'm not too sure about this.

You can probably buy another ocr program to import text through the twain interface. I never install paperport because I don't like it and hardly ever use ocr.

Any OCR software capable of using the TWAIN interface will work.

EDIT: Acrobat has a very good plug-in that lets you do OCR. Office XP has something similar, altough I haven't used that one in a long time.

I don't use OCR..

I just use my scanner to scan documents (worksheets) and photos.

The same company that makes PaperPort, ScanSoft, makes a product called OmniPage Pro 12 Office. It is considered the "standard" for OCR readers.
