Is there an acronym guide, or vocabulary thread?

Hi, I am just dipping my toes into the OC water, and so far... fun.

However, I was reading the Excellent thread on how to OC an AMD 64 and I am understanding *most* of it, but I think an acronym/vocab guide might be helpfull.

Anyone know of such a thing?

I'm not aware of one... Maybe just start asking about particular definitions, and people will answer. ;)

OK, how about HTT?

And could someone explain the memory timings thing to me? 4-2-2-2 or whatever?

Also, I am a bit confused on what the multiplier does, and the memory divider does.

Thanks for the help :)

Yeah, I wasn't having much luck with google, so I asked if there might be a resource people knew about.

People said no, but ask and I might get an answer. So I did, and I did, and even a little more to fuel additional research.

I even got one guy come in with the obligitory WTFBBQ GOOGLE RTFM!!!11e!!!

I think me and RichUK made a thread that explains some of that stuff, but all of my knowledge on the subject is complied from like 5 years of just messing with stuff and reading things. There isn't really a be all end all guide to that stuff out there that I've found. I would make one, but that would require way too much time to not get paid for.

Ahh yes I do remember :). Like you said for someone to compile a complete guide with regards to computer hardware and more specifically with regards to OCing, this would require a considerable amount of time and effort, and you would most definitely need to get paid :D

EDIT: Found that thread

t stands for TIME, measured in clocks.
CAS - Column Address Strobe
RP - Row Precharge
RCD - Row Address Strobe to Column Address Strobe Delay
RAS - Row Address Strobe

Ram works as follows: RAM is an array ordered in row and columns (think spreadsheet). Your controller gives the ram chip the row on which the data it needs to access is in. The controller waits for [tRAS] and then sends the column it needs to access. After this your info is sent to the CPU. Your tRP is just the time needed before a new row can be accessed. It implies closing the current open row and opening a new one.

Here's one that I've always liked:

LDT - Lightning Data Transport, the name of AMD's HyperTransport before the consortium changed its name.
