When I was in college kids used to ask for my autograph pretty often, and it wasnt just in the midwest, happened in New Orleans, Philly, Charlotte NC. I guess they thought I was gonna go pro or something, but in reality I wasn't even close.

Haha, I'm told by some of my friends that I look like Jamie Langenbrunner. Hockey players aren't exactly recognizable on the street, but someone did stop me once thinking it was him. Oddly enough, it was in Boston, and not in NJ where I am from.

Hey, that's pretty cool. Even if you weren't going pro, it's nice to be recognized for things you actually did.

The giveaway for me is that I'm not in Vancouver playing in the Olympics right now.

Hmm...Azurik might be considered "famous." At least, he's probably the famousest.

I'm famous in a certain strata of geekiness. I think here on the forums only a couple of people know who I am and what I'm famous for, and I have made it clear not to tell.

I can say that I attended an expo (all paid for, nice free vacation for me and the GF) a couple of years back and it was my first 'appearance' in almost two decades, and that I still get random people emailing me asking if I am 'The' guy they're thinking of.

If there's something known as obscure-famous, I would be it, even if that sounds like an oxymoron.

:)

If there are people famous here and you're not aware of them at this point, there is probably a reason...ie they don't want people to know who they are or aren't interested in self-promotion.

Hmmm, as Mosh has a particularly excellent Robert Frost excerpt at the moment, I will PM her so that she can independently verify my minor famousness, although I think we will all have to accept Anand being the towering icon of AT for now and forever :)
