Example 1: 5 gigs to joe across the hall by tomorrow = Burn it on DVD and walk your ass over there.

Example 2: 5 gigs to your pal 1000 miles away by next thursday = Burn it on DVD and mail it.

For longer distances and shorter timeframes you're gonna need to set up an ftp server
