Sure you both use modems. Set his to answer mode. Use a terminal program. I suggest Procomm. Dial his phone number with Procomm. You will be bypassing the internet in it's totality. Set your transfer protocol to kermit or z-modem. You both have to have the same protocol. Upload file directly to him.

LOL, this isn't 1992.

Hey, he wanted the most direct route.

No web space, no FTPs, just a program that's solely for that purpose.
Need more details...

File size
Distance
Time frame

Example 1: 5 gigs to joe across the hall by tomorrow = Burn it on DVD and walk your ass over there.

Example 2: 5 gigs to your pal 1000 miles away by next thursday = Burn it on DVD and mail it.

For longer distances and shorter timeframes you're gonna need to set up an ftp server

Basically, it's PRIVATE peer 2 peer software.

If you don't wanna do that, i can also vouch for the usendit.com free service

usendit.com no worky. Have you tried it lately? either they are dead or down for the evening.

www.yousendit.com, not usendit.com. Previous post was probably a temporary lapse of memory.

Speaking of YouSendIt, what do they get out of the deal? Seems a little odd that someone is willing to give away gigabytes of bandwidth daily. Other than Google :p

Been wondering that myself. They don't even have any advertising on their site, and I haven't gotten any spam from the one or 2 times I've used it.

pay someone (with a hosting account) to host it for you temporarily... for a buck or two i am sure they'll let you use some bandwidth temporarily...
