Is there a way to run a game without needing the cd-rom???

i was trying to play a game with out the cd to see if it works, and it doesnt

I even copied the files from the cd to a folder and still didnt work (dont know if it should)

Is there a way to make it so??

You can run most games without the cd if you get a no cd crack for that game. Do a little googling and you'll find them.

I believe there is a program, i think its called virtual cd or something like that. It lets you mount cd-roms like actual drives. That will let you play the games without the cd.

I have used Daemon Tools in the past, and it worked well, until the game manufacturer updated the game so that you HAD to have the CD in the drive.

With Daemon Tools, you rip a image of your CD to your HD (use CloneCD) and use Daemon Tools to "mount" the image to a virtual CD drive. It will show up in Windows Explorer just like a real CDROM. You can even enable security "emulation", like SecureROM, and the image will behave like a real CD. This really saves wear and tear on the CD drive if you game a lot.

It used to work with Diablo II, but Blizzard updated the game with a sercurity patch and it now causes the game not to work without the CD actually in the drive, even with a properly mounted image. All I can say is try it and see if it works with your game...

i have virtual cd & it's sweet - i've made virtual cd's of all my games, now i never have to mess with cd's. especially nice if you've got a lan like i do, build the virtual cd on one machine then just copy it to the others. particularly nice for doing multiplayer gaming when the game wants a cd in each machine that is playing the game ... grrr!

think i paid $40 for it - well worth the cost!

😀

Another vote for Virtual CD for those games without cracks. I use a no-cd crack when available (I actually own the games), but for something without an available crack (Jane's F-15 for example) Virtual CD is fantastic.

The program I use is actually called CD Anywhere 2 from V Communications. Works on my 98se and now on XP.
