Is there a way to repair/improve an electric (coil) stove-top?

ive moved into an apartment and its got this newish-looking Whirlpool electric range. however, it sucks balls. There is only 1 large burner (&3 smalls), and this larger burner takes forever to even boil a tiny amount of water. its fucking terrible (forget the fact that its unbalanced for sauteeing)

this thing just seems like an electric coil element.. how can things go wrong? is it really broken or just terminally shitty? is there something i can check or replace?

You can usually pull it out and look at the terminals. Is it just the big one that is poor? If it's all of them and the oven, maybe you've dropped a fuse/breaker in only one leg of the 220V.

You can replace those elements too, perhaps that would be worth a try.

thanks for the ideas so far. i havent really checked the other (small) burners..but i know atleast its almost as poor. havent thought about swapping the elements between the burners to see if theyre truly bad. the oven seems to run okay, so maybe its not the fuse. i wish i had gas =\
