Kinda weird, but one of my electronics has a metal casing with sharp edges. It also is cold to the touch. I'm thinking I'd like to encase the thing in like teflon or silicone to make it nicer to handle. Is there a way?

I haven't used it, but I don't imagine a WD-40 spray would leave a significant layer of material to change a sharp edge. It's a lubricant, not a coating.

Just for future reference...

Silicone = stuff used for fake tits.
Silicon = stuff used to make electronic chips.

technically WD40 is a penetrating oil.....

I wouldn't even classify it as a penetrating oil since it has so little oil in it, <25%. The main ingredients, outside the petroleum oil, are an aliphatic hydrocarbon at 45-50% and LVP aliphatic hydrocarbon at 12-18%. Aliphatic hydrocarbons are like methane, ethene, ethane, butane, propane, etc.

Given that WD-40 is an absolutely horrible lubricant, and wasn't designed to be one, it's only really good for quick use on something that you go back and use a proper lubricant on later. See all sorts of people using WD-40 as a lubricant on moving parts, like on bicycle chains, with very poor results.

I have used truck bed liner on stuff before. It forms into a sort of hard plastic and just paints on. It's gritty but you sand it down and paint.

Silicon = stuff used to make electronic chips.

Which is stupid when you think about it. Why have two completely unrelated substances essentially use the same name (with one letter difference)? that's just asking for trouble/confusion.
