Is there a way to monitor my roommate's bandwidth usage?

I have comcast cable that is hooked up to my router and it splits to my roommate and my computer.

I'm currently using NetMeter to monitor my bandwidt usage just for kicks.

My roommate is no so good with PC, so whenever he DLs torrent, he jacks up the upload rate so both his and my PC become unbearably slow. I have to constantly teach him to set down the upload rate.

Is there a way for me to monitor his traffic usage since we're both hooked up to the same router?

If you have one of the linksys wrt54g series devices, you can flash it with 3rd party firmware that can perform QoS bandwidth management on his IP, or by service. You can limit his torrent BW use, or just limit his upload entirely for everything.

you can also set the settings in your router to foward directly to his ip if it is a torrent file. I think its any traffic that goes to x port. Don't remember the port number, but you can google that. That should free up some bandwidth for you.

What are you talking about? If the guy is using all the available upstream bandwidth, forwarding a port to him isn't going to reduce the usage.
