Hi guys,

I just got my new system build up and it consists of a p4 3ghz with ht. Now when i run programs like seti, or prime95, I watch the task manager and the processor only goes up to like 55% is this normal?

Yes it is normal i you need to start another instant of it that should take care of the problem.

Yes (Windows sees maxing "one" processor out as a 50% load, even though it is running the processor at 100%). To get Windows to report 100% usage, you'll need to run two instances of Prime95 or SETI, one on each virtual processor.

So your saying that we should have people run SETI on their machine for AnandTech DC as a stability tester? :)

wait a minute...are you saying that CPU usage is only at about 55% when running prime95, and at 100% when running SETI? that doesn't make any sense. one instance of either of those programs should only load the CPU roughly 50%.

If that's the case it should list the processor as being 25% used.

Ya, When I run prime95 and i make sure under the options i choose affinity and have it use both cpus it stays around 50% and when i run SETI by itself it maxes out the cpu at 100%
